The entire META-MORPHOSIS team headed to Borneo for the 10th World Congress of Herpetology (WCH10)!!!!
I had the pleasure of organizing a symposium together with Tiana Kohlsdorf and Daniel Paluh entitled Developmental Herpetology: Linking Ecology, Development, and Evolution. Through this symposium, we brought together researchers from around the world to bridge the gaps between ecology, development, and evolution, with contributions from Christoph Liedtke, Ivan Gomez-Mestre, Hendrik Müller, Roberto Márquez, Daniel Smith Paredes, Aaron Griffing, Laurie Araspin, Quentin Martinez, Zitong Zhang, Vivien Louppe, Mathieu Denoël, Ronald Bonett, and Nicolas Di-Poï.
During the symposium, I presented our work on the impact of metamorphosis completeness on morphological diversity in salamanders and newts. Vivien Louppe shared his preliminary results exploring how life-cycle variation influences species diversification in salamanders and newts.
Isabelle presented her research on the effects of size and ontogeny on feeding kinematics in the axolotl, while Morgane introduced her preliminary findings on the impact of life-cycle variation on sexual dimorphism in fire salamanders.
Beyond the presentations, the congress was an incredible opportunity to connect with specialists in salamander and newt biology and to foster collaborations across disciplines through the symposium we organized. Many exciting discussions emerged from this meeting!!!! Stay tuned for the next results from the META-MORPHOSIS project!
