B. Gehen, Laufen, Essen, Gegenst\u00e4nde aufheben und vieles mehr). Aber nehmen wir einmal an, wir w\u00fcrden uns so weiterentwickeln, dass wir in einer anderen Umgebung leben oder auf andere Weise heranwachsen w\u00fcrden \u2013 beispielsweise ohne Pubert\u00e4t oder indem wir unser ganzes Leben lang im Jugendalter bleiben w\u00fcrden. M\u00fcssten wir dann die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Form unserer Muskeln anpassen? Oder sind unsere Muskeln eher ein System nach dem Motto \u201eEine Gr\u00f6\u00dfe passt f\u00fcr alle\u201c, das in vielen Umgebungen und bei vielen Arten des Heranwachsens funktioniert?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das ist die Frage, die wir gestellt haben \u2013 allerdings in Bezug auf Salamander! \u2013 in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1093\/icb\/icag040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Unser Forschungsartikel, der im Mai 2026 in der Fachzeitschrift \u201eIntegrative &amp; Comparative Biology\u201c ver\u00f6ffentlicht wurde<\/a>. Nachdem wir Daten von 25 Salamanderarten gesammelt und diese einer evolution\u00e4ren statistischen Analyse unterzogen hatten, stellten wir fest, dass Muskeln bei Salamandern kein einheitliches System darstellen, das f\u00fcr die meisten Arten gleicherma\u00dfen gilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salamander, die von einem Leben im Wasser zu einem Leben an Land \u00fcbergingen, hatten andere Muskeln als Salamander, die ihr ganzes Leben lang in ein und derselben Umgebung blieben. Salamander, die ein Larvenstadium durchlaufen, um erwachsen zu werden, hatten andere Muskeln als Salamander, die entweder das Larvenstadium \u00fcberspringen oder ihr ganzes Leben lang wie eine Salamanderlarve bleiben. Und Salamander, die als ausgewachsene Tiere an Land leben, hatten andere Muskeln als solche, die als ausgewachsene Tiere im Wasser leben. Ausgewachsene Salamander, deren Lebensraum das Wasser ist, hatten die st\u00e4rksten und gr\u00f6\u00dften Muskeln entwickelt: Es erfordert viel Muskelkraft und -leistung, um das Maul unter Wasser zu \u00f6ffnen und einen Sog zu erzeugen, w\u00e4hrend die landlebenden Salamander mit weniger Muskelkraft auskommen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diese Forschungsergebnisse legen nahe, dass die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe und Form der Muskeln bei Tieren auf viele verschiedene Aspekte unseres Lebens als Tiere abgestimmt sein m\u00fcssen oder zumindest mit diesen variieren \u2013 darunter die Umgebungen, in denen wir leben, und sogar die Art und Weise, wie wir aufwachsen und reifen.
